Do These Healthy Foods Make You Gain Weight?

I still get asked this question often in coaching health and fitness, and there’s so much misinformation out there, that it should be addressed.

Does Fruit Make You Fat?

The answer:

Yes, it’s possible that fruit CAN make you fat. IF you eat too much of it.

But then again, it’s possible to get fat eating chicken breasts and broccoli.
IF you eat too much of it. (And that’s pretty hard to do because most real nutrient-dense high-protein food and fiber will fill you up naturally.)

Have you ever eaten a bag of apples? Nope.

Have you ever eaten a bag of chips? Yep!

The #1 frustration I hear is: “I eat healthy and I can’t lose weight!”

Because eating healthy, doesn’t necessarily mean you are eating for weight loss.

Eating for weight loss is about the energy balance of calories (quantity of food).

Eating for health is about nutrients (quality of food) and of course, all the other lifestyle factors that determine health, like exercise, sleep, and stress.
