How to Get More Motivation

The biggest question I get in coaching health and fitness is, “How do I get more motivation and willpower to exercise and eat well?”

My answer, after coaching thousands of people over 25 years…

You don’t GET motivation at all, so stop waiting for it to magically hit you.

Motivation and willpower are way overrated.

Some days you will have some, many days you won’t.

So what do you do?

Change your mindset and your approach to what works.

Building lifestyle habits, movement of any kind, little positive wins of any kind, is what creates motivation, not the other way around.

The discipline should be about getting healthy groceries in your cart and house, and easy enough to be convenient to be the thing you choose over chips and crackers.

If your workout (and workout clothes) is planned ahead the night before for a certain time, (especially for an early morning workout) it’s way easier to get up and get it done the next day. And don’t hit snooze!

If you don’t have junk food in your house, chances are slim you won’t be eating it.
