Let’s Clear the Carbohydrate Confusion
You can eat carbs and lose weight
Over the last few years, it seems the popularity of weight-loss diets demonizing carbohydrates have started with steps in the right direction but escalated to taking major leaps beyond what is necessary for most people looking to lose a few pounds without having to eliminate an entire food group.
In the low-carb dieting world, we started from eating simple sugars to choosing more complex whole-grain carbohydrates. Think trading white bread for whole-wheat.
Then to eating fewer carbohydrates overall, think of eating one slice of whole-wheat bread instead of two.
And now the last 10 years the slippery slide to the Paleo diet (avoiding gluten and eating only a little sweet potato on occasion), to eating next to no-carbs with the high-fat Keto diet (think eating a fatty rib-eye steak with a side of spinach) or now the most extreme, meat only Carnivore diets. (think just the rib-eye)
So it’s time we clear the carb confusion once and for all without making it ‘complex’ (no pun intended) and show you why reducing carbs do work for losing weight (but only under certain conditions) and how you can still include carbs and fats in your diet to lose weight and feel great. Without the diet dogma. Deal?
